Kids Mode is a closed environment. To leave it, a child needs your password: no PIN they can guess and no simple swipe. Until you enter your code, they cannot access the home screen, the Play Store, YouTube, or anything else on the main tablet.
There is plenty to explore in Kids Mode. It comes with pre-installed Montessori activities, ABC and phonics, First Coding, Drawing, Numbers, and Music. There is also a curated in-app kids store where they can browse and download more, all within the locked environment and without ever reaching the open internet.

It is also a real tablet
Outside Kids Mode, this is a full Android device with access to the Google Play Store. Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, and everything else a family tablet needs. It connects via Wi-Fi and is 5G compatible. It has a front camera, two rear cameras, and dual speakers.
It is not a branded toy stuck in a single app ecosystem, nor a cheap novelty with one pre-installed store. When the kids are done with it, it is simply a tablet.

How it works
Step 1: Charge and attach. Take it out of the box, snap on the case, and charge it with the included cable.
Step 2: Set your password. Open the Kids Mode app, create your child's profile, and set the exit password. It takes less than five minutes, and from that point on they cannot get out without it.
